The young violinist Loussine Azizian makes her CD debut with an exciting album featuring works by Eugène Ysaÿe, Danish Nicklas Schmidt and Armenian composers Aram Khachaturian & Arno Babajanian.

The album “Obsession” – released on June 13^th 2015 – is remarkable for its very personal choice of repertoire that reflects the background of the artist – Azizian was born in Armenia and has lived most of her life in Copenhagen, Denmark.

It consists of four radically different – yet equally intense compositions. Belgian virtuoso Eugene Ysaÿe opens the debut album with his second solo sonata for violin “Obsession”.
Aram Khachaturian´s rarely heard “Sonata-Monologue” follows giving a radically different portrait of the solo violin.
“Pavane Extrapolations” by the award-winning young Danish composer Nicklas Schmidt is dedicated to Loussine Azizian. It explores Ravel’s “Pavane pour une infante défunte” to the extreme and renders, in Azizians own words, “a painfully beautiful yet thoroughly entertaining set of variations for violin and piano.”
The album is concluded with the monumental sonata for violin and piano by the Armenian 20th century composer Arno Babajanian – a phenomenally intense and obsessive work that has rarely been performed outside of the former Soviet Union.

Pianist Berit Johansen Tange and Loussine Azizian have played together for more than a decade and toured Denmark with a broad repertoire of classical and contemporary music.
They were one of the main featured acts at the 2014 Copenhagen Summer Festival.

Walkway Records hosted a release-event in the concert hall of the Frederiksberg Library (Frederiksberg bibliotek) Saturday 13th June 2015 – with introductions by P2 radio host Esben Tange.
